From Michael Fujimoto, Epic Movement (a CRU ministry)

“On May 15th, we as Cru/Epic staff got together with various other churches/ministries via the organization Compassion Connect to host a free health care clinic on the Portland Community College (PCC)- Cascade campus. Students of a wide array of ethnicities and ages received free vision tests, dental work, haircuts, health products, and refreshments.

Another Epic staff, Daniel Sasaki, and I were handing flyers out around campus and spreading the word about the clinic. During that time, we also prayed “Lord, help us to stop for whoever is wanting to talk about You.” I believe our prayer was answered when we came across Mamba and Oliver, two friends sitting in the middle of campus. They were immediately interested in the clinic and went over to receive a few services.

“It is amazing to see the lives that are touched when churches and ministries partner together to love communities in both action and word.” – Michael Fujimoto

As they were waiting around, we started discussing spiritual matters. Mamba, who is 18 and from Zambia, told us about how he attends church, but doesn’t feel safe to really talk to anybody about his questions about God and the church.

God blessed us with an opportunity to talk about his questions and also share the gospel with him. Mamba, listening intently, asked how he can walk with God as it seemed very difficult to turn away from all his ways to following Jesus and what He desires.

We then shared about how the Holy Spirit empowers believers to walk with God, as it is absolutely impossible to do so without Him. After some time, Mamba prayed to receive Christ and follow Him! The team gave him a Bible the following day. Daniel and I will also meet up with him in a couple weeks.

Mamba, a student at the Portland Community College Cascade Campus in North Portland, receives prayer from CRU/Epic members who partnered with Compassion Connect and local churches to host the free clinic!

Grateful for what God did drawing Mamba to Himself. It is amazing to see the lives that are touched when churches and ministries partner together to love communities in both action and word. Pray for Mamba to grow his roots in the Lord and his church and to reflect Him to his peers on campus!”
